About Mr Tait

Mr Campbell Tait graduated with distinction from the University of Dundee in 2009, where he was awarded undergraduate prizes for urology and renal research projects. He completed foundation and core surgical training in the East of Scotland before undertaking a clinical research post in urological oncology in Manchester, based at Salford Royal and The Christie.

His research work led to national and international presentations and publications, with regional and national recognition for his presentations, including the BAUS Oncology Prize. He went on to complete higher specialist training in urology in the North East of England and was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon in 2020 at the Freeman Hospital and Northumbria, including Wansbeck and Alnwick.

Mr Tait’s clinical practice includes bladder and prostate cancer diagnostics and treatment, advanced surgery for benign prostate enlargement, kidney stone disease, urinary tract infections and inguino-scrotal conditions. He also has a strong interest in education, training and patient safety. He has been an invited national speaker, a training course director for resident and consultant doctors and an examiner for both Newcastle medical students and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Tait is involved in the education and supervision of urology trainees at the Freeman Hospital. He participates in Annual Review of Competence Progression for urology registrars and serves as a local Principal Investigator for clinical trials. He has also contributed to regional service development and initiatives designed to support colleagues following adverse clinical events.
